2018 Crimson Wave Swim Camp (Elite)
Ages: Entering Grades 7-12
Location: James E. Longnecker Competition Pool, Grove City College
Monday, June 25, 2018 to Friday, June 29, 2018
The Crimson Wave Elite Camp has been organized to complement our philosophy of using proper technique enhanced by sound training principles to achieve peak performance. The skills learned during the camp can be applied throughout the participant’s swim season to enhance their training and improve their decision making in preparing for their various competitions.
Our goal at Crimson Wave Swim Camp is to address the issues that you, as a high school athlete, face in your training. In addition to fine tuning various aspects of your technique and educating you on the finer points of race preparation, our objective is to teach you to train more effectively.
Participants will be required to indicate which stroke, in addition to freestyle, that they would like their camp experience to focus on. This year will feature a more defined stroke track with major focus on the finer aspects of the stroke chosen. The number of campers signed up for each stroke will be limited to ensure that adequate time and feedback is provided during instruction in each stroke.
Breast Stroke: Open
Crimson Wave Swim Camp strives to provide a low camper to coach ratio – during your visit training groups will be limited to approximately 6-10 athletes per coach, with additional counselors assisting. Extensive time will be spent on training in and out of the pool as well as race strategies and other details necessary for fast times.
We also understand that many of the swimmers will be in the middle of their summer long course season. For this reason, and to emphasize training principles and to encourage the practical application of the skills taught, a training session will be held each day for the campers.
Grove City College Head Coach, Dave Fritz, will be joined by a staff of highly qualified, enthusiastic, and accomplished Collegiate Varsity Head Coaches, Age Group Coaches, and Collegiate Swimmers. Our coaching staff will implement training concepts and stroke techniques used by the top programs in the nation.
Dave Fritz has been the Head Coach for the Grove City College Wolverines men’s team for 15 years and the women’s team for 8 years. During his tenure as head coach of the two programs the Wolverines have won 15 conference titles, finished in the top 15 at the NCAA Championships 7 times, produced two NCAA National Champions, sent numerous athletes to the NCAA Championships, and set NCAA and Conference records under his guidance. He has been named Conference Coach of the Year twelve times and been awarded the ASCA Coaching Excellence Award nine times.
