2018 Crimson Wave Swim Camp (Comprehensive I and II)
Ages: Entering Grades 3-11
Location: James E. Longnecker Competition Pool, Grove City College
Monday, June 25, 2018 to Friday, June 28, 2018
The Comprehensive Camp follows our philosophy that becoming a fast swimmer is achieved through proper technique and appropriate race strategy and enhanced through training of the appropriate physiological systems. The Level I group will focus the majority of their time on stroke technique with the implementation of swimming distances commensurate to the skill level of the participants. In addition to stroke skills, start and turn work will also be explored as well as talks regarding race pacing and nutrition.
Level II will incorporate all of the same concepts as Level I with the addition of a few training sets to allow the athletes to put their new skills into practice as well as prepare them for the Elite Camp. While there will be some challenging sets, the goal is still to improve technique and understanding while performing training sets.
Crimson Wave Swim Camp strives to provide a low camper to coach ratio – during your visit training groups will be limited to approximately 6-10 athletes per coach. Extensive time will be spent on training in and out of the pool as well as race strategies and other details necessary for fast times. Grove City College Head Coach, Dave Fritz, will be joined by a staff of highly qualified, enthusiastic, and accomplished Collegiate Varsity Head Coaches, Age Group Coaches, and Collegiate Swimmers. Our coaching staff will implement training concepts and stroke techniques used by the top programs in the nation.
Dave Fritz has been the Head Coach for the Grove City College Wolverines men’s team for 13 years and the women’s team for 6 years. Through the 2013-14 season we have won 12 conference titles, finished in the top 15 at the NCAA Championships 7 times, produced two NCAA National Champions, sent numerous athletes to the NCAA Championships, and set NCAA and Conference records under his guidance. He has been named Conference Coach of the Year nine times and been awarded the ASCA Coaching Excellence Award nine times.

We also understand that many of the swimmers will be in the middle of their summer long course season. For this reason, and to emphasize training principles and to encourage the practical application of the skills taught, a training session will be held each day for the campers.
